MOLKANO is an independent brand paying homage to a rich family legacy of eyewear craftsmanship dating back to the 1960s, when our grandparents worked on eyewear assembly lines with a dedication driven by the vision of a better life.
Our world sits somewhere between Greece and the wider Mediterranean: old streets, open windows, late night conversations, and a kind of style that is felt before it is explained. We design slowly, with attention to shape, balance, and the relationship between fit and form.
For us, eyewear is personal. It sits close to identity, changing not only how we see but also how we are seen.
The Journey
Areti and Konstantinos Left Greece
Like so many at the time, they immigrated from Greece not for adventure, but for work. West Germany was hiring, and Greece had little to offer two young people with nothing to lose. They found their place on eyewear assembly lines on the outskirts of Stuttgart, beneath a very different sky from the one they had left behind. But there was no time for that.
The work was precise, repetitive, and unglamorous. They came to understand frames through touch, patience, and resilience. For them, craftsmanship began as a means of survival. Over time, it became something closer to pride.
Many years later, well into her eighties, Grandma Areti would light up whenever she carried her small toolbox into the kitchen to repair her grandchildren’s glasses. With love and joy, she would replace tiny screws and adjust the temples. She was the specialist, after all.
Two Generations Later
Decades later, their first grandson, Stathis, found himself drawn back to the world that had shaped his grandparents' lives.
But MOLKANO was not built by blood alone. It began when Stathis met a second pair of hands: Nick, his co-founder, who came to eyewear not through family history, but through a genuine obsession with its craft.
In 2023, they founded MOLKANO in Athens. One brought a family legacy, the other an unwavering dedication to the art of eyewear. Together, they began writing the brand's next chapter.
Naples
An idea like this needs hands worthy of it. We found them in Italy, in a small family-owned workshop in Naples, where eyewear is still cut, shaped, and finished by hand.
For more than sixty years, generations of craftspeople have refined their expertise there, working with patience, precision, and a deep respect for the material.
The Journey Continues
From an assembly line in Stuttgart, to a drawing board in Athens, to a workshop in Naples, the same instinct runs through every frame: that eyewear should be made thoughtfully, by hand, and for the person who will wear it.

Craftsmanship
Every MOLKANO frame is handmade in Italy by skilled artisans whose techniques have been refined over decades. In family-owned ateliers, patience, precision and care shape every stage of the process.
Premium Italian acetate is cut, formed, assembled and hand-polished through a sequence of steps, each one bringing the frame closer to its final character.
